H.G. Wells’ “The War of the Worlds” is a seminal work of science fiction that was first published in 1898 and continues to captivate readers with its timeless tale of Martian invasion. Set in Victorian England, the novel explores the catastrophic consequences of an extraterrestrial attack on Earth. Wells’ vivid imagination and keen insight into human nature are on full display as he masterfully depicts the panic, chaos, and resilience of humanity in the face of overwhelming adversity. “The War of the Worlds” not only serves as a thrilling adventure but also serves as a reflection on the fragility of human civilization and our place in the cosmos, making it a thought-provoking and enduring classic in the realm of science fiction literature.

Moor-Art Gallery has partnered with artist Matt Griffin to create 2 posters for this literary masterpiece and they are as fantastic as the story they represent.  Here is what Moor Art has to say about this collab.

“We are absolutely ecstatic to bring you an incredible piece of work by an artist who has burst onto the poster scene in 2020 with sell outs and poster after poster of textured grandeur.  Bow down to Matt Griffin.

Matt has been working for years in the commercial field for companies such as Disney, Warner Bros, Lucasfilm, Universal, Folio Society, Penguin & Harper Collins and collecting awards along the way.  A man of many styles (and guises), he is a major name in book design and it was with his artwork for the recent special edition of ‘Dune’ that Matt took a foray into the world of poster art. He’s not looked back since, with consistently astounding pieces for global galleries.

We first noticed Matt’s futuristic sci-fi and cyberpunk style a couple of years ago and he seemed the perfect fit for our Literary series with H.G Wells’ ‘The War of the Worlds’. Matt’s first print for us takes inspiration from pulp novel book covers from an era gone by.  The textures employed in this piece are authentic and numerous, breaking Matt’s computer on several occasions.

The regular edition is available as an A2 Lithograph print limited to only 125 copies, priced £36. The purple variant forms part of our ‘Open Book’ Editions range, sized A3 as an archival pigment ink print for just £19.99.”

Speaking of Open Book Editions:

“Introducing ‘Open Book Editions’. Our Literature Collection made more accessible.

No fear of the prints ever selling out.  They will be available for a looooong time, giving more people the chance to own great art.

  • Smaller prints than our limited posters, taking into account wall space and considerations for easier framing.
  • Simple pricing at £19.99 for all prints. More affordable, making it great to build up a collection or for gifting.
  • Same Fine-Art standard. Prints are fade-resistant pigment-based with high quality archival fine-art papers.”

All prints available Friday 27 November @ 5PM GMT / 9AM PST on our homepage!
