“Ever since I was a child, people said my family was cursed,”
“Mom tried to protect us with God.”
“Pop tried to protect us with wrestling.”
“He said if we were the toughest, strongest, nothing would ever hurt us.”
“I believed it.”
“We all did.”
Today we get the first trailer and official poster for A24’s upcoming film, “The Iron Claw” and we are hooked and counting the days until it comes out. The film is a sports biopic based on the real life story of the Von Erich brothers in the 1980’s and the love, anguish and struggles of a family on the path to greatness while trying to avoid “The Von Erich curse.” Most folks scoff at the phrase “family curse” but in this case, there is reason to take pause. Out of six of Fritz Von Eric’s sons, five died prior to the age of 33, including three who died by suicide.
Directed by Sean Durkin, “The Iron Claw” stars: Zac Efron, (Kevin Von Erich aka “The Golden Warrior”), Jeremy Allen White (Kerry Von Erich), Harris Dickinson (David Von Erich), Maura Tierney (Doris Von Erich), Stanley Simons (Mike Von Erich), Holt McCallany (Fritz Von Erich) and Lily James (Pam Adkisson).
